Where Love Has Gone?

When a child is born, the mother takes care of the child but as the child grows up he moves about in the world with hardly any thought of the mother. He then gathers other attachments and looses the ones he had before. Just the way we discard the clothes which are worn out or that we have outgrown. Such is the frailty of relationships in life. We loose a lot of friends and relatives in life. They later only become our past acquaintances which we may see sometimes in real or virtual life. But our bonding has deteriorated far beyond repair so we just say hello and move on. God is our father whom we tend to forget once we have a body and later we move on with our stronger relationship with our parents, school friends, then it is collage mates, then girl friends or boy friends, spouses and kids and then grand children and so on. Our business and other relationships also exist. Once old age starts up and we feel the need for some solace we again move towards this once forgotten friend calle

Fear & God

When we were small our parents told us not to do certain things otherwise the ghost/devil will come and take us. We obeyed our parents because we were afraid. We never entered a room since the devil lived there. Even darkness troubled us so we never dared step out in the dark. At school the tall and hefty boy in class teased you but you dare not tell the teacher about him since you were afraid of being trashed by him. At school and college we were always afraid of getting less marks and loosing the ranks. When we went to work we were always afraid of loosing the job or our position to a newer recruit. We looked forward to our annual leave but were afraid that some last moment work will hold us up. Also when it was time for annual appraisal we were in the best of behavior and pandered to our bosses. Now as we look at our family in progression we are always thinking about the mortgages and monthly installments. Then it is about our children and spouses too. Can we provide for them in the

Attachments & Detachment!

Today I was asked by my disciple whether she could go to someplace far and settle down there-in the "happily ever after" way? I told her that the first thing that she would do would be to think about her daughter and how she was doing in life and that would never allow her to be free or happy anywhere. When she is in school she would have to think about her education, then it would be about higher studies, then about her job, then marriage, then her kids, then her divorce or unhappy married life, then her life and never would she be ever free. Now just imagine this- when do you think you will be free from these mundane stuff in life for spiritual goals? Never. Not in this life atleast! So don't kid yourself and say that you want to get realized in this life. Your life revolves around your family, friends, house, job, career, parents, life goals, travel and every other worldly stuff besides God! First it is all about settling down in life and then it is about God. God has

Giving & Asking!

This whole month is being celebrated all about giving. Giving free meals, giving donations, giving back to society and giving love. There are many types of givers so I shall give you an idea about them. The highest type of giver is the one who gives and has no idea he has given, has no sense of giving and no ownership about the act or its fruits too. The middling type is the one who gives and knows that he has given, has a clear idea how much it is and where and when also. He cares about the fruits and is bothered that it has gone to the right place or person too. He needs accounts and always mentions about it to one and all. He feels the ownership of giving and granting to the have-nots. He feels mighty pleased at himself for giving and counts the next time also how much he can do good to the society. The lowest class are those who give reluctantly after coercion and by force only. They feel the others do not deserve their generosity. They never seem to let go of the things that they h

Who Listens To God?

I was talking about Arjuna and Krishna and why the poor Lord had to tell the handsome prince 18 full chapters of wisdom. He could have finished it in chapter 2 itself if Arjuna would have listened to Him. Just to say that even if God tells you to do something, you will still question His wisdom. Krishna tells Arjuna to lift his bow and arrow and shoot his enemy and the dude keeps on questioning the Lord continuously about His advices. We never listen to the Lord at all. Now you will say when does He speak to me? Of course, He speaks to you all the time but we do not listen to that voice within us which prompts us so much. We go by logic and our superb intellect and arrive at a conclusion which we feel is the right answer for the problem in front of us. We feel that our way is the right one and we will get the desired result as per our own accord. But sir, it is also mentioned that the results are not in our hands at all. Then why not do your job well and let the results be His? The fir

Not Wasted At All

When I read the blog of my fellow blogger Bhagyareema, where she had written about not wasting any food reminded me of an incident with a holy man from Bangalore. He was travelling with his group to Bangalore after visiting a temple at Kollur. There was so much of food which was loaded in the car that everyone was wondering that the food is bound to get spoilt since the journey was over 10 hours long. He insisted that they keep it in the car boot. There was food for over 200 people in there. After crossing a long distance they came across a huge crowd of people marching in line in the middle of the night. They stopped them to ask why so many children and women along with men are marching so deep into the night in that jungle. The group leader told them that they have been marching at night since they wanted to go back to Andhra walking as their contractor had deserted them and taken the money too. They were construction workers who had not had a morsel to eat for the last two days. The

Compassion

When Buddha spoke of compassion we have always wondered how it works and in our life should we be compassionate to everyone? If someone acts miserably with us, is it necessary for us to give back that person in the same coin or should our behavior be different? Let me tell you here, if someone is mean and acting difficult with us, we should be very kind to that person and help him out with his difficulties. Now you may ask why should I do that? That is because you are not him but a completely different beautiful individual. If someone stoops low, we need not stoop at that level and become as mean as others. If someone wants to be a gutter water, why should we become like him? And if we do then what would be the difference between us and him? They can be pigs but let us be human and nice creatures. We should learn to work with harmony and peace and create a healthy environment for ourselves. Our parents and Guru's have never taught us to be mean or ugly creatures, so why then become

Self-Aggrandizement

The word describes as an ego-trip. How many of us actually point to our little self and talk highly about it? All of us do that. It can also be called as a self promotion. I was talking about it in the satsang yesterday where we find that there will be a few of the devotees who will later describe the words of the teachings with their own interpretations and say that this is what he meant in his satsang. They draw their own conclusions which sound very highly intellectual interpretations of the simple words discussed in it. They then go about comparing themselves how intelligent they are than the rest of the devotees. I have myself experienced this in satsangs which I attended. Some really try hard to impress the rest of the crowd with their mental gymnastics. Again when we meet our colleagues we impress upon them how the meeting went by our own special inputs as to how you have been instrumental in making the leader arrive at a momentous decision. We all want that false praises. Somet

Why Blame God?

I was hearing the rants of a person who was not getting what he wanted, even though he had asked or rather implored, prayed fervently for getting what he had asked for. He squarely blamed the invisible God for ditching him in times of extreme needs. Don't we all do the same every now and then when things that we ask for never come our way? We always find God at fault for not giving us what we deserve! But the poor Guy is not at all in the loop to supply you your choicest goodies, since you are on your own. Let me explain some things here. When we consider the actions our own and say that I did that or this is my own doing-like we say I studied hard for the examination, I worked hard for the promotion, I work my ass off for this seminar or presentation, or some such stuff and then we do not get the results that we had hoped for, we get the opportunity to blame that cool Dude! Here you are actually saying that me and my big ego have put in all the efforts to get that deserving result a

Letters Are God!

My facebook update had a comment by Ramesh who wanted to know if God would be the same if called out by any other name in any other language. So here is the explanation for the above. It is written in most of the holy books that first came the word. Now we always wonder how it came about. Let me give you one example of your own child. When a child is born, it has no name so we name the child something...let us say we call the child Pari. Now can we separate the word Pari from the child? Pari and child are one and the same. So the name or word came first and then the object or being. So the child says-I am Pari and Pari says thats me! So when we say the child came first it is called Shiva, the name would be called Shakti and the child saying-I am Pari is called Ishwar and the word Pari which says thats me is called Sadashiv. So even if I say in any other language the sequence remains the same. Now let us examine the letters or matraka...the word is called mother since it gives birth to

Life Full Of Crap-Stuff!

I was watching George Carlin's take on "Stuff" and it made me realize how much we cram our life full of stuff. So what is this stuff all about? It is all about collecting really unwanted stuff all our lives. Now just when one of my distant relatives father in law died, she called all those who cared for him to take away the stuff he had gathered all his life. Sadly, I found a whole load of spiritual books including a Gita piled up near the toilet for similar disposal. I felt sad at that old man who died and who had so lovingly gathered these books and other stuff and now his daughter in law was throwing it away. We have so much of stuff piled up in all our lives, houses, garages, lockers, cupboards and the kitchen that we really wonder who will take it all if we were to suddenly die? No one would care for it, just because they have their own stuff to take care of. Do we really need so much of all these useless stuff? No, not even the clothes or the shoes as well. Someone

Latest Upgrade?

I saw my son upgrading his blackberry with the latest updates from their website and it set me thinking about why do people upgrade all the time? The latest gizmo's and gadgets are seen in the hands of the jet setters. They seem to just want the latest, the fastest and the priciest one to themselves. Does it define success of just craving to be noticed by others? Take the case of the most successful people around us and then you may be surprised to note that they run around in one very old and handy automobile. They may sport the best phone but they really have no clue about its latest functions or the number of software's available to play around with it. They have no idea how to juice it to the last drop. For them it is just another stuff to take them to their ultimate destination called success in their own field. Be it finance, retail or software. When in retail the retailer who has the largest number of outlets run their business on the best back end software and gizmo'

Time For A Break?

Have you noticed that in todays day and age the new age families have no time for anything except for sleep and work? Let me give you an example. The man works for a company with very odd hours. He sleeps till late afternoon. His wife says-whom should I get up for, so she too sleeps late or goes back to sleep once her kid goes by the school bus at 7am. Her maid mostly does all the stuff of packing the dabba, making the kid get up, putting his clothes on and so on. Memsaab is very tired since she goes to work everyday. Her work does not take her out of the house 4 days in a week. she logs on to the network and seems busy on her laptop. Meanwhile surfing various sites and chatting on phone and sametime. She looks busy when there is a scheduled call which is mostly silent and she is watching something on telly or on mail. When her name is called out she answers in a very highly interactive way and responds vigorously, just to make others think that she has heard it.The whole world talks t

All About Hangups

I came across an interesting blogger who said that she hates online communities and social network sites. It brought me to my yesterdays satsang about how we have rejected a few things in life since they seem like interference in our 'space'! I was explaining about how people lived in olden times without any electricity and had no form of entertainment except gossip, make babies, sleep and eat after sundown. Whereas today people come home so late from their work place. Like this girl landed home from her job at Tesco at 11pm. There is electrical power, Internet, cellphones and all the newer things to keep us occupied today. There were only a few radio stations and we looked forward to the Wednesday night at 8pm for Binaca Geet Mala on Radio Ceylon.Nowadays you can check out videos and so many forms of radio stations and television stations that it is impossible to keep track. We loved to go to hill stations and pilgrimages but now there are conducted tours to exotic locations wit

True Person

One of my friends wrote on his status message about understanding the true person that you are, so I was spurred to write on that. What do you mean by being true to yourself and who is this yourself that we are referring to? That brings me to a satsang with one of my disciples yesterday on understanding our true calling, inherent nature, destiny and free will. All the above are connected so let me give you the low down on that. First let us know that we are all connected to our destiny. The destiny that we talk about is just a framework within which we operate. That would clearly mean that we are fish in a fish tank but we cannot move beyond that four walls of the tank. That is the overall destiny. That is defined by our karmas. Whatever prarabdha(current) karma that we are born with we have to follow the diktats of that.Meaning whatever species that we are born as is our past karmas diktats. We are as if on a rail line which is confinement and we cannot move beyond the rails or we dera

Firmness Of Will

Why are we not able to fulfil our wants most of the time and why can't we wish for the impossible and get it? Our sankalpa is not so firm as that of God hence we cannot reach it. Brahma could create this entire universe by the firmness of his imagination but that firmness is never with us hence we cannot achieve it. The will of Brahman(Supreme Consciousness) is called imagination also. His Will is so firm that universes and any other can be created just to fulfill that will. We have multiple thoughts in us going on and the firmness can never come to us due to the multiplicity of our thoughts. Let us say when we think of getting the 1st rank, we are also thinking that if I come second what will happen or 3rd? What will be the subjects that I can take when I come 1st,2nd or 3rd or whatever? Do you see how we have dissipated our own will? We cannot be firm and hold on to that single thought hence we cannot work miracles in our lives. To have no thought or nirvikalpa state is next to i

Wrong Side Of Karma

Today I was asked a very important question by someone I was meeting for the first time. His question was if I have accumulated some bad karma, can I delete it by doing some good karma? Now let me tell you if you have taken a loan, you gotta give it back and if you have lent someone money, you will have to take it back, right? So If we have accumulated bad karma...let me give you one example here for bad karma. Maybe you have slapped someone hard or robbed some money from someone, then it is required that you get slapped back or that other person robs you of it sometime in the future life. Now let us see the possibilities of that other person and you coming together in another life face to face...one in a million chance, see! So you got to take birth so many times. Wow, that is very silly! In the same way, if someone has beaten you up to a pulp, you will have to beat that guy up sometime in your future life also. But by saying that after beating you up, he takes you to the hospital, wou

Good Films Lack Money

My recent visit to Kolkatta spurred me to watch some good Bengali cinema. I asked around some of the known folks to recommend me some good films. Mind it ,I told them that I do not understand any Bengali and I wanted the films to have English subtitles so that I can get the hang of the dialogues! But alas I could find only one film with those. I was thoroughly disappointed. I saw some really great films like Antarheen, Allo, Ballyganj Court, Anshumaner Choobhi, etc... Now my titles may be wrong here so please ignore it, but I guess you got the hang of what I saw. The films were made on very poor budgets and the cast kept on repeating the costumes and the location hunt was not that great. The art direction was the pits but the actors were great, the direction was good, the story was the essence of the film and overall the look was very soft. The way we get to see garish costumes in Hindi flicks, the strong dance sequences in South films, the biggg budgets of both the south and Bollywood

Tyacha Nanachi Tang

Now when I heard these words in a song recently, I wondered how the whole music scene has evolved. You may say this song has no appeal but don't you see there are so many genres today that we can actually sense a whole new evolution on the musical scene. I am in middle ages and I love to listen to Taio Cruz, Eminem, Rihanna and others like Amanat Ali, etc.. too. Most of my collections are similar to my daughters collections and my favorite are always on the AT40. That brings me to the crib by all the old artists that their songs are getting mutilated and cannot be recognized today. Now we need to give way to the old and ring in the new, right? There are people who really love the oldies and slow numbers, so are the younger generations in any way obstructing them from crooning such numbers? My sons repertoire is full of such old numbers and he belts them out at the local Karaoke bar. I feel he is much older to me whereas the liking for songs go. There may not be any logical explanat

Poojo Conversation Kolkatta style

The guy in front started spewing out venom about the condition of Kolkatta. He must have been a supplier from Delhi, so he went on talking about how disciplined the crowd is in the Mumbai Ganesh Festival and how the city moves along even when there is a tonne of traffic. This started at Gariahaat, while on the way to Taratala. The lady next to me worked her way up also, talking and interjecting with the guy in front of the auto. She too complained nineteen to the dozen and continued with the tirade how the whole of Kolkatta comes to a standstill during the Pooja. Suddenly an old woman at the signal at Kalibari turned inwards towards the auto and missed smashing her face in it. We heaved a sigh of relief. She continued to ask if we would go towards another destination. The Auto driver surely missed a very great tragedy. Then these two got an opportunity to cajole the Kolkatta women and their strange ways. The guy in front said that he hated the crowds during the poojo and would shut hims

Tarot Cards & I

I have been reading tarot cards for my clients for donkeys years and been in occult for the last 48 years. When I had gone for the Indibloggers meet, the girl sitting behind me introduced herself as a tarot card reader and I was wondering how and why I gave up that beautiful hobby! Last month I trained one person in that lost art of Tarot reading through spiritual methods. The psychic world is filled with such wonders that it is difficult to pin them down to some worldly method of divination. When I started to practice Tarot Card reading here in Bangalore, the world had hardly heard about that. Before I came on the scene, an old Anglo Indian Gentleman called Commander Green practiced it from Brigade Road. Thereafter I started from my tiny store in Indiranagar. I got quite a notoriety since I got a half page write up in the Times Of India and other papers. I never charged a penny to anyone till January 2009. Later to dissuade people from visiting me I charged them, but they never gave up

That God Doesn't Speak

Now here we have people asking God for all sorts of stuff and God granting them or just not even giving a whiff of it at all to some others. So you may ask why does he give some and not give others? First and foremost let me tell you that the God that you speak about is some deity of some kind who is a giver of handouts and not an almighty that you would think of. The Supreme Consciousness that we talk about which cannot be quantified or qualified is not at all visible or a doer also. He just does not react or give some opinion at all. Here if I say 'He', it does not mean the masculine He at all. I just have to address that something so I am calling that 'He'.Coming back to the verdict called answers given by God. Let me assure you He does not give any answers at all. He is not even an observer or a witness as it is believed. If some people are dying or some weird stuff is happening, He never interferes at all. The wrong or the right happens since it is wrong or right a

Love In A Wrong Word!

Love is such a mis-used word in life that we say it so casually for every silly and stupid thing and misuse it with every other person. The word signifies a very deeper feeling but see how it gets used and check out its different connotations here. A mother says to her child that she loves him/her. A husband or wife says to their partner the same word. A boy says to his girlfriend and a girl says to her boyfriend the same. A man says to his dog the same and calls out to his best friend the same. Now assess the feelings that this word evokes in these different situations and you will understand that we are not talking about the same emotion at all. The responses are different for each one of these situations, then why do we have to use the same word or misuse it so much. I wish the languages have a different word for each of these emotions and expressions and convey the correct meaning. The words can lead to a very difficult situation if we use it in the wrong context. So let us start a

Irrelevant Old Expositions?

Have you noticed there are musicians who start playing the instrument even before they can talk or read music? Have you also noticed that there are strange people in this world who have talents which others are in awe of and wonder many a times as to how they are able to perform those amazing feats? Considering that they have never been exposed to that instrument before, how come they are so adept at using it, performing on it or doing miraculous things with it? The idea lies in our past 'vasanas' or tendencies which exist in the new born. We carry with us the impressions from the past lives which reveal us the talent we have. It should not be a strange phenomenon since all of us have the tendencies which we have brought from some past life of ours. So we have child artists, musicians, painters, writers and others too. But what I experienced was something that I could never fathom till it was revealed to me by my invisible Guru. After I got up from a strange illness, I took to

Commas Of Happiness

In life we are always facing some situations which bring us joy and a lot of them bring sadness. The ratio would be higher on the unhappiness side. When we experience these simple joys, we wish they could be prolonged and stretched for a longer duration. Take the case of a child, when the candy comes to an end he wants it to go on. We also wish that the accolades we received at office goes on for a longer duration. But we soon realize that these do not last. We are again facing the barrage of sadness and sorrows in life. When we have a job we are constantly cribbing that we are getting a raw deal and when we get a newer job we like it the first few days and then it seems like we have been pushed from the frying pan into fire. In relationships also we are happy in the beginning and then it starts to all go awry. We expect the partner to do as per our wishes and desires and he expects us to conform to his ways of life. The disconnects are many. These are due to our expectations and desir

So Whats Your Yardstick?

Sometime back someone asked me how can these Guru's act in the following ways? They get caught in a sex scandal and some get caught on video talking of taking bribes, some of having 10's of politicians in their pockets and some other boasting of a billion students, some talking of being the greatest yoga Guru and so on. So do you expect the great one to behave in a particular way to conform to your method of thinking or having a decorum as prescribed by you? Do you believe that there is a special code for the Guru to behave? If you ask me about it, I will tell you that they may have their quirks and behavior patterns. Some indulge in sexual acts and some talk of amassing wealth. That is their lookout and way of living. So why do you want to go to such a Guru? Is it because of some great mans introductions or or some other benefits that you are getting from him? Maybe you have something to ask from Him that you went to Him in the first place. Maybe you thought there are good loo

Come Delusion,Come Confusion!

I have often wondered if we could disconnect the man that was Krishna to the God that He represented. No one would have had the capacity to handle 16108 wives if He would be a man but then why would a God want to handle 16108 female ego's? One one side religion teaches us to be pure and non promiscuous and here we have a God who breaks the first rule of the game. He has numerous affairs with married women-The Gopi's! We should not be deceitful in nature and here we have a God full of deceit and treachery. He told Arjuna to shoot at his Guru(Bhishma) behind his back and tell lies to the other Guru(Dronacharya) and kill him also. He lifts mountains(Govardhan) and shields the people from the deluge, but allows the deluge to gulp his kingdom down in Dwarka! He brings his Guru's(Sandipani's) son back from the dead but cannot do anything for his own race, when they all die fighting each other. He can change anything and everything for all his devotees, but he cannot convince o

How To Test The Guru.

I came across a comment where the seeker asked "How can we test and know a true Guru?" This is written for those who are in touch with Guru's or are seeking one. First and foremost just ask yourself these questions- Does spiritual knowledge exist in books? Am I interested in knowing some body contortion exercises or am I truly a seeker? Do I need to join a gym or some Guru who charges me less to do the same yoga at a lesser cost? If I need to understand Pranayam or some other breathing exercise, do I need an expert? Does the Guru whom I want to go to boast of a million students and when do you think will I get a chance to meet that Guru alone and that too more often? Is he trying to sell some ayurvedic or some such preparations to one and all? Does he enrol me for a class and tells me to enrol a few more in that class? Does he take part in political or social activities? Does he have ambitions about being the only God in this world and sell his photographs by millions? D

Should You Celebrate?

I came across a blog where the lady asked why do we have to celebrate some festival or the other? First of all the reason why we should celebrate is not for our own sake but for the reason the day is there. We celebrate Independence day because we got that, Gandhi jayanti for the Great Persona's day, Diwali for defeat of evil, Xmas for the birth of Jesus and so on. Similarly we celebrate our own birthday and anniversaries too, even the day we met our s/o's .The celebrations have nothing to do with the festivities but we adapt according to the ways of the world. There was no loud music earlier but music like shehnai and dholaks were played. The elders were respected and bowed down to. There were hardly any fireworks but now there are and we light fireworks. Can we tell the Chinese not to light then during their festivities? Or the special playfulness at Halloween? We have celebrated Ganesha in a sarvajanik(community) way in Mumbai, where the youngsters gather funds from one and

Casual Acquaintance

I have met a lot of people who consider God as a casual acquaintance. Whenever the need arises to ask for some favor they stand in front of His image and pray fervently so that He grants them their wishes. Once they are granted they forget Him till the next wish arises in mind. Or if they get into another muddle or trouble. How mean can a person be? He only thinks of God as an when the desires come up! I have seen so many of them who will take up a prayer book and attend the place of worship only during the season. So what does it say about the person-in Hindi we call such a person "Matlabi"! We go to our dear ones only when we have to attend some family functions or religious ceremonies. The rest of the year these same folks are missing from the rolls. But we attend the television very regularly, the newspaper, the laptop, our lovers, spouses, children, office, vehicles, and you can name a host of stuff and people whom we care for that we remember and talk to them or wish th

Knowing God

Now I was watching a video posted by an atheist about debunking the claim of believers of Gods. I was asked by my disciple how can we accommodate these people and don't they get punished by God? Here is a story to tell you how all these religions and atheism and agnosticism works. All the people in that group are blind and they come across an elephant. One of them touches the trunk and says it is like a hose pipe, the other touches its ear and says it is like a big tree leaf, then the next touches the legs and says it is like a tree trunk, one touches the tail and says it is like a rope. Now they are not wrong at all since it is their individual perspective from their handicap point of view. So also God is seen by different people as per their individual tastes and observations. The others who guide them also give their own versions about God. Now if we have a person who does not want to believe in anything at all, he too has his own view point which cannot be discounted at all. he

Unreal and Mayavi

Now here I was telling my disciple about this world being unreal and full of disturbing stuff and a creation of Maya, the delusive power of God. She was unable to co-relate to it so I took some simple examples from our daily life to tell her how much it is unreal. I asked her what she ate last night and she told me she ate an ice-cream which was very yummy. She was under the impression like most of us that it is made from milk but I told her that it is made from vegetable oils and she was aghast. Don't you ever read what it says on the ice cream wrapper, I asked! It says a frozen desert and not an ice cream.See? Then came the question of milk since she thought milk is straight from the cows. I told her I am sorry to say, it comes from the dairy and it is never fresh. It is remade from the stored milk powder which they might have collected some weeks ago. Is it true? Ahhhh! And then we want to eat that cream from milk. Wish I was with Shri Krishna. He had the purest of the cream and m

Grace of God & Guru

I was asked this question yesterday how does the grace come on to a person? Is there any specific requirement for getting that? The answer is not so easy to understand so just know a few things first. The method prescribed by the ancient texts are quite a lot. You may follow some paths to reach that lofty place called God-Realization or Self Realization. But then it is not at all an easy one. So you require the grace of God and Guru. It takes us millions of lives to get there but it can be facilitated by the God and Guru. The paths prescribed are Karma yoga, Dnyan yoga, Bhakti and many more but then just by reading some books of doing a zillion japas can never get us there. Consider this if by reading the holiest of books could give us Self Realization, then the proof reader or the printer would be. Similarly Ganga is a holy river and anyone who steps into Ganga gets all their sins washed, so the crocodile which lives in Ganga must be the holiest. But that is not so. This brand of Self

Prioritize-Easiest to Likeable to Distasteful.

When I was small and I went for weddings or some family functions I always first ate the stuff which I liked the most then tackled the next best and lastly that which I did not like at all.Maybe it got left behind in the plate. Similarly when we write our examinations we have always written that topic which we know more about or the most liked or the easiest first. It is always better to get over those things which we can handle the easiest or fastest with an eye on the most liked. Even in our lives we should always prioritise the subjects which we can handle the easiest, most liked or the fastest that we can get over with. That way we will be happiest and then to handle the rest of the problems will be a breeze. Our main issues are never given the priority but we shun handling them at all. Sometimes we do not want to face our demons in life, hoping that they will go away. Even great people have done the same. They too had to face calamities or problems in life which they faced with g

Ego And Self Esteem

I am sure you have asked me the explanation from the spiritual point of view so my answer for the above topic of ego and self esteem is given below. The ego arises with the creation in the realm of Maya. The body considers itself as the container of that super consciousness and the various tatwas in the creation covered by the Gunas(satva, rajas and tamas). This ego makes us think that we are the ones who run the house which we live in. This false belief of importance given to that destructive principle is called ego. The ego is very fragile and goes bloated or diminished with the praise or the reprimand. Whereas the self esteem is the value we place for that ego in our own self. It is the estimation of what we are worth in the eyes of this false principle called ego. When we are humiliated by someone we feel our own estimation pitted against that yard stick which we have falsely created about our worth. Both these principles are worthless in the spiritual realm since they both point t

Giving Selflessly.

There is a story of my Guru. He was called by a devotee for lunch at his home. Being very poor his wife asked him why he had to invite someone when they did not have anything to eat for their own family? The poor peasant said that to call the Guru home is a great honor. She gathered some greens from the creeper outside her house and cooked them for the Guru. He had his meal alone and blessed the couple and kids and while going out of the house, he just plucked the creeper out and walked away. The wife was aghast and started to curse the Guru for destroying the only source of food for the family. The husband said that since it is done by his Guru, then there must be something auspicious about it. So he tried to replant the creeper and when he dug up that place, he found a pot of gold there. When you give selflessly without any motivation to such Godly people or those who do not have any such devious or ulterior motives, then such an act pays dividends to you. Remember, it is important t

Up The Mountain Path

Someone called me to talk about the path that they follow and asked me which path did I profess or follow? I told her that all path lead to the same mountain top. If we have to climb Mount Everest, we can climb from whichever side of the mountain that we want to. From east, west, north or south face. So considering that, we need to start looking out for reaching the summit from our own path. The one who takes you up or leads you by hand is called the Guru. He knows each and every obstacle or facilitation on the way.He know when you need to stop for the night and take enough rest. He has done this routine before so He knows about the path. If you slip along the way, He lends his hand and takes you through. There are specialists of a particular path so they can only show you the summit from their side but the One who stays at the top on the summit can see on all side and can help the climber by his knowledge about that path that he is climbing on. So these super teachers are the Sadguru

We spend time on every other thing in life. When we are young we spend time playing, studying, fighting, watching television and so on. As we move on to youth, we spend time searching for job, getting one, settling down in life. Later we get married, have time for loving someone, have children and then get into the stream of family life. As we move further, we bother about money, time, fame, career, savings and children's future and our retirement. When we retire then we really wonder where life has slipped by. We mull on the past times and still watch television, go for walks, chat with friends, sit idly and go for holidays. Now you tell me when do we ever think of God or that power which gives us everything? Hardly a few times do we think of Him. When it is some festival, when we go on pilgrimages, some treks, sometimes when we visit places of worship or just when we pray for some few moments in life. The most important time for us is when we need something desperately that we vi
