Life Full Of Crap-Stuff!

I was watching George Carlin's take on "Stuff" and it made me realize how much we cram our life full of stuff.
So what is this stuff all about? It is all about collecting really unwanted stuff all our lives.
Now just when one of my distant relatives father in law died, she called all those who cared for him to take away the stuff he had gathered all his life.
Sadly, I found a whole load of spiritual books including a Gita piled up near the toilet for similar disposal. I felt sad at that old man who died and who had so lovingly gathered these books and other stuff and now his daughter in law was throwing it away.
We have so much of stuff piled up in all our lives, houses, garages, lockers, cupboards and the kitchen that we really wonder who will take it all if we were to suddenly die?
No one would care for it, just because they have their own stuff to take care of.
Do we really need so much of all these useless stuff? No, not even the clothes or the shoes as well.
Someone wanted to buy a very expensive fancy saree and I wondered how much she would spend and then think that in her entire life she would have just two or three occasions to wear it! So what is she going to do with that? Store it of course! Stuff it!
Have you noticed we have gathered so many photographs and books, papers and memoirs, mark sheets of 3rd standard to the paper napkin used by your first girl friend. You have stuffed your kitchen with at least 3 to 4 gadgets which are never used except once in two years! Hey, don't forget the useless stuff in your computers as well as your other devices too!
So why do we care to gather such useless stuff all our life?
Greed and lust for almost anything. Ramakrishna Paramhamsa described it as "Kamini Kanchan".
Now just think of all the gold that you have in your cupboard and lockers and think how many times have you worn it in the last ten years and then you take a pen and write down how much you have wasted your energies trying to get it in first place?
Life is all about living and being free from such stuff.
Just because you have stuff, you need house, need relatives, need all useless stuff around you to feel SECURE!
So stop this constant craving for acquisitions of stuff since that's what makes you a prisoner for life.
I will end here with a story from Vivekananda's American journey.
He had nothing in this world but just when he was leaving for India, his most beloved disciple came to him and asked him if she could have that one possession which would remind her of him. He wondered what it could be!
She pointed to his walking stick and he felt ashamed and gave it away.
We have come empty handed in this world and have to go back empty handed also.
So stop this useless gathering of stuff and be free here and now!
