True Blue Preceptor

Now the question here would be how to recognize a true blue Guru. 1.The Guru has a fantastic preceptor who cannot be compared to anyone. Ramananda was a great preceptor of Kabir. Need I say more. He met his Guru by one day lying supine on the steps when Ramananda was returning from His bath. Ramananda uttered the words "Ram" when he stumbled on Kabir and thats how Kabir got His Guru mantra. 2. The Guru shows the correct path to be followed in life. Shivaji Maharaj gave away his kingdom at the feet of his Guru Samarth Ramdas, who returned it back telling him to run his kingdom as if it belonged to his Guru.By proxy and that way he would not feel egotistical while running it. 3.To do the Guru seva without any hang ups Krishna had to go and search for the son of His Guru(Sandipani) in the nether world and such type of tasks are required to do the seva. The four holy rivers(Ganga,Yamuna..) did seva at the ashram of Kukukatta who was the preceptor of Pundalika of Pandharpur. 4.To

Spiritual Or Not

I have heard so many people say that they join the spiritual bandwagon because it offers them peace of mind, happiness, tranquility and spiritual knowledge. Then they join some classes or weekend retreats where they have to do all sorts of meditations, hatha yoga, listen to some devotional songs and discourses, sing songs, eat good food, work for a little while tending to nature or the kitchen, go for long walks or hikes and so on. So what do these weekend retreats offer to them? All those mentioned above and additional benefits like a diary full of contacts and great camaraderie. Its a great experience from the material worldly point of view. Great stress busters and healthy lifestyle and you are rejuvenated back into your world. If that is what spirituality is offering then a spa can offer the same at a price for all those who do not believe in the spiritual. So whether there is God or no God, the physical frame of mind can be recharged by any physical or material method. There are no

Incomplete Guru and Gods!

When I was asked whether the Gods and the worldly Guru's were full or incomplete, I told her that they are all incomplete and not full. Except One!Krishna! Let me explain here what I mean by being incomplete but not full. Every God has a domain just like the head of a company or a kingdom. He or she has to take care of their own territory, just the way you can go to Saraswati for knowledge and education but you cannot ask her for money or business benefits. In the same way, Lakshmi would grant you riches but not knowledge. They are smaller deities which have a control over a domain. If I want to fight a war and win it or have to be aggressive in this world, I cannot approach the Buddha. Remember he has never lifted a sword or killed anyone so how can he teach us about the art of war? Jesus has told us to turn the other cheek when someone slaps us on one, but would you allow someone to do that? If someone encroaches on our territory are we supposed to take a stand that let him be an

Free Will or Destiny?

Yesterday my disciple asked me this question about freewill or destiny! She was of the opinion that we are ruled by destiny and that there is no free will.I shall answer this question here. We all come to birth carrying our prarabdha karma with us.That is the karma which we have to expend during this birth. So if we have to get married to X then that's what is destined and will happen but then where does the free will come into the picture? Here let me give you a perspective from Krishna's point of view. He asked Arjun to lift his bow and arrow and shoot at Bhishma. Arjun was reluctant to do so since he could not kill his preceptor in the battle. Krishna then said that if Arjun does not kill with his arrow, then any which way, He had destined Bhishma's death and that would happen but Arjun would fall down from grace and commit sin. Here the choice was to lift his bow and arrow and shoot or not to shoot! There was still a choice and free will to execute the order or not. If t

20 Spiritual Stories For The Worldly

This is a story of Shivaji Maharaj and his Preceptor Swami Samarth Ramdas and how he came about ruling His Guru's kingdom. Shivaji had heard about the great Saint and had wanted to visit Him, so one day he set about having His darshan. Shivaji came for a satsang and sat there listening intently what was being said. The Saint was preaching about how to go about doing mundane activities and still keep the mind on God. The King was very impressed and at the end of the satsang he approached the Saint to ask for His blessings. As a token of gratitude the King removed his Crown and placed it at the feet of the Saint. He relinquished his kingdom at the feet of the Saint. The Saint being all knowing accepted the gift and asked the King to become a mendicant like Him. The next day he took the King for asking bhiksha(alms and food offerings) from the houses in the area. They received some amount of food which they both partook off. Later Shivaji asked his Preceptor why does He have to ask fo

What Do I Do Now?

Just yesterday I was again asked this question-What do I do now that I am in spiritual? Let me take you through the paces once again and then you decide what suits you. First of all those that are born realized are 'Nityasiddha', just as Pralhad or Arjuna were but they are covered with the veils of Maya. They do not have to follow any special requirements since they are already there. Then the next type are where the Grace of God suddenly descends upon them and are called 'Kripasiddha' and the last type are called 'Sadhanasiddha' where the aspirant has to do continuous Sadhana or Efforts to reach realization. All these above are Siddhas or realized beings. They have reached there. Now we come to the Sadhaks. Those who are on the path and are progressing steadly. They may be at various levels and have to constantly give tests to get where they are and beyond. They have to endeavour and try harder to progress in their spiritual quest. They are just like the students

Endless Possibilities in His World.

When the Lord runs your world know that he knows whats best for you. The day we say that I am the doer,I did this or that,I have to make a living for my family or I have to earn to live and so on...the Lord decides that since this person wants to take the responsibility on himself, then let him take the onus of all that follows too. The culminating action would amount to secondary reactions also. They too get added to your pile of doings. Then the buck stops at your doorstep. If you are the know-all and do-all then why do you have no control over the situations? Ever wondered how the terrorists get easy access and entry to a country but those who really deserve never get in? Even after such scans and tight security measures! So know that you have to face the music even after you take the baton into your own hands. The culminating action after they enter would also accrue to you or to the one who thinks he has the power to take responsibility from the Lord. The Lord then decides that this
