Casual Acquaintance

I have met a lot of people who consider God as a casual acquaintance.
Whenever the need arises to ask for some favor they stand in front of His image and pray fervently so that He grants them their wishes. Once they are granted they forget Him till the next wish arises in mind. Or if they get into another muddle or trouble.
How mean can a person be? He only thinks of God as an when the desires come up!
I have seen so many of them who will take up a prayer book and attend the place of worship only during the season. So what does it say about the person-in Hindi we call such a person "Matlabi"!
We go to our dear ones only when we have to attend some family functions or religious ceremonies. The rest of the year these same folks are missing from the rolls.
But we attend the television very regularly, the newspaper, the laptop, our lovers, spouses, children, office, vehicles, and you can name a host of stuff and people whom we care for that we remember and talk to them or wish them.Even the inanimate objects which have a limited life are cared for so much. Check out the cell phones, the ipods and other gadgets which we revere more than that one we get them from.
We forget to thank that One who has given that wonderful gadget or the relation in our life.
We sometimes say it by force or by some mechanical way the grace or the prayers to God. It has no meaning if we do not put in any effort in it or our mind in it.
Yet, when we loose someone or something or get hurt, are we not the first to call God names? How come we just think of Him when we have to say something bad but otherwise we hardly consider Him to be a part of our successes!
Let us think of Him without any external motivation or force.
Let us be one with Him even if we do not have to get any special favors or in times of troubles.
Let us keep in touch any which way since we know He runs our life for us.
Learn to accept all the ups and the downs as His gifts to us and not as a curse or blessings.
Let us just be a tool in His hands and let Him do what is right for us, since He knws best.

Greetings,
Mohammed!
Why do you believe in existence of God? Do you genuinely believe in Atman? What makes you think that?
I would appreciate a genuine response and please dont quote what you might heard from someone else....

Dear In Pursuit of Quest,
I will not say that it has been a revelation(that will make me ignorant) but my quest ended and I was packed back to teach seekers by my Guru Dattatreya. There have been marvelous experiences in my life which I sometime blog about and which are true. The experience of Atman or the Lord cannot be told or explained since it is like telling you about a fruit/berry called 'khuddus'.If someone has seen and eaten it, they only will know about it. Those who have never seen or tasted it will never understand it. So as much as I try explaining it will never suffice. So the true Guru only wants His disciples to experience THAT and not just visualize or imagine about it. So the grace of that Guru need to descend upon you to really know Him(God) or whatever you wish to know.God bless you.Thank you for writing.
