So Whats Your Yardstick?

Sometime back someone asked me how can these Guru's act in the following ways?

They get caught in a sex scandal and some get caught on video talking of taking bribes,some of having 10's of politicians in their pockets and some other boasting of a billion students, some talking of being the greatest yoga Guru and so on.

So do you expect the great one to behave in a particular way to conform to your method of thinking or having a decorum as prescribed by you?

Do you believe that there is a special code for the Guru to behave?

If you ask me about it, I will tell you that they may have their quirks and behavior patterns. Some indulge in sexual acts and some talk of amassing wealth. That is their lookout and way of living. So why do you want to go to such a Guru?

Is it because of some great mans introductions or or some other benefits that you are getting from him? Maybe you have something to ask from Him that you went to Him in the first place. Maybe you thought there are good looking girls in the course there and you get to partner them, look deep into their eyes or just do some body contortion exercise and see how their bodies move?

Come on there are sincere seekers who are after only enlightenment and their Guru comes to them and not the other way round. You do not go in search of a Guru but the Guru comes searching for you. He assesses you as per your calibre and then takes you under His wing, not otherwise.

Hey, and if you find Him asking for some special favors then you know he is not the one for you at all.

The true Guru's are very un-presumptuous and do not have any airs at all.

They do not want to build ashrams, have great posters or cutouts like film stars of themselves made, never ask you for some donations, do not ascribe you some down line to your growth, do not have some retreats or ask for votes.

They are sure of the truth and will give you enough time to assimilate the truth.

When you use your yardstick which is more human, then you will find them very non conformative and unassuming. They exhibit a strange streak, a knowledge which is far beyond your understanding, do not care for your special gifts or favors, care two hoots for money or fame, are not interested in getting notoriety in 3rd page or TV channels and have no confirmed ways of behavior towards public.

They sleep when they want to, talk when they want to, behave like complete idiots sometimes and sometimes they behave very knowledgeable. They dress up in very strange ways, or dress not at all. They do not observe any decorum and are always lost somewhere else.

Take the case of Saibaba or Ramakrishnaji, they had no dress code, acted weirdly often, got angry at someone suddenly, ate whichever way they preferred and cared least for respect or protocol.

Now you just leave your yardstick home and know that if that Guru is a cheat or a God Man by just knowing His true nature.
