Not Wasted At All

When I read the blog of my fellow blogger Bhagyareema, where she had written about not wasting any food reminded me of an incident with a holy man from Bangalore.
He was travelling with his group to Bangalore after visiting a temple at Kollur. There was so much of food which was loaded in the car that everyone was wondering that the food is bound to get spoilt since the journey was over 10 hours long. He insisted that they keep it in the car boot. There was food for over 200 people in there.
After crossing a long distance they came across a huge crowd of people marching in line in the middle of the night. They stopped them to ask why so many children and women along with men are marching so deep into the night in that jungle. The group leader told them that they have been marching at night since they wanted to go back to Andhra walking as their contractor had deserted them and taken the money too. They were construction workers who had not had a morsel to eat for the last two days. The holy man then sat them down and fed them the food that was so specially meant for them. This just proves that there is no waste in this beautiful world of ours.
The food that we seem to throw out is the manna for the small creatures and not a waste at all. Just imagine our own bodies are food for some creatures as well.
The rotting bodies of humans or other dead creatures is food for these worms and such others. There are animals or birds who will not touch another live creature but wait for it to die, just like the vultures and hyenas.
This universe does not really waste anything at all. It has created a very beautiful balance in the system. just imagine the plastic pen that you are holding in hand is the refuse of animals and trees from the past. The trees and animals got converted into fossil fuel which makes the raw material for the plastics we use.
So mother nature has such balances that we really have no clue about.
She works miracles in nature and keeps the whole universe working absolutely in clockwork precision without a waste of any type.
And surely we should only take what is due to us but never hold out that there is a waste of anything since who knows where it is getting used and when?
So we do our bit and let the universe do its bit for this creation.
Here I will give one reason why we do prayers before we eat.
We offer prayers to all those small creatures who are going to become a party in our own stomach when we eat our meals. The Jains are careful about not causing harm to any creature small or big for this reason. We ask pardon from them before we gulp them down. You can as well imagine the millions of small entities that we crush when we walk or eat. So we ask for the pardon from the universe for making use of such food which includes even such stuff. This is a part of the ecological balance of this creation. Amen!

I thot we prayed to God before taking food to thank HIM for the food. Did not know abut the other details.
