What Drives Your Wishes.

Have you seen thousands standing in front of the idol telling Him their wishes and praying for solutions or just thanking Him for granting their fervent desires?

There are thousands of temples, churches and other holy places where they repose their faith in that deity or image or a wall to help them get to their wishes!

Now if they were to not get their wish granted in the manner it was wished for then delusion sets in and discontentment follows.

You may have also heard a lot of people attributing their cures of some strange illnesses or overcoming financial difficulties to some strange person who maybe wearing a white or an orange robe and asking them to practice some strange ritual or a body contortion exercise or giving out some potions to quell their anxieties.

Most of the time the cure or some exercise works and sometimes it doesn't.

They then attribute it to miracle cures and repose Godliness in that human being.

But let us say the same cure is granted by some hospital or some doctor, then why do we not call that doctor a Godman or the hospital a place of worship?

Let us say if I can get cured by one Godman and if I were to go to another one then too I may get cured, would it not amount to my good luck or just my destiny?

I read somewhere that Ganga by itself is highly impure but we attribute purity and godliness to Ganga.If that is so then anyone who bathes in Ganga becomes pure and so by the same reasoning the crocodile that stays in Ganga would be the holiest!

Then on investigating I realized that it is not Ganga which is holy but when the saints dip their feet in Ganga, does it become pure.

In the same way the visit by some saint to any tirthakshetra or holy land would make it holy and not the idol kept there. The saints leave their aura around which drives the people to get their wishes fulfilled. After a few years the aura or the power diminishes and hence we have the archeological sites of the same Gods or Goddesses we worship. Today no one worships the trimurti at Elephanta or the idols at other places which are just another archeological find. They have lost glory since they do not carry that divinity in them anymore.

So let us stop attributing the godliness in someone who can be replaced by someone else and pray to the true divinity in ourselves.

Empower the God who stays in you and be holy, divine or just pure Godman/Godwoman yourself.

Now when you look at the term 'Self Realization", you will know that it means to know thyself!
