Two Sides Of A Coin

There are always two sides of a coin. There are always two sides to an argument and yet we never look at the other side.
In the material world we all have a biased view of life.
When we get a promotion we feel so happy but when we get no increment in salary we get sad. These can be short lived if we are told that along with the promotion we have been relegated to the most unwanted department and the salary increase has not happened because we have been reassigned to another team where the perks are far greater than the salary. In both these cases our happiness and sadness are short lived.
We fluctuate immediately into another state of mind.
Now if your daughter comes to you telling you about the good marks she has got in her test papers, you feel elated but later when the marks are reversed due to some error, you are bound to feel let down.
The sanction of a housing loan was of a bigger amount and later it was turned into a smaller amount leading you to a great distress.
We have our mind working up and down like a ping pong ball and side by side like a pendulum every instant of our lives.
Happiness turns to sorrow sooner than you start enjoying it and sadness turns to joy faster than you imagine.
This yo yo goes on in life and we can never reach the state of equanimity in life with our material achievements.
But in the spiritual we tend to see the life as a continuous changing pattern and never stick to anything at all. We know that this life is full of ups and downs, rights and wrongs and black and whites. The spiritual beings know that sorrow or joy are equally temporary and happiness and everything else is just a work of maya.
We do not bother about the end results since they are, after all never in our hands. We can only aim to do the best but can never get a fix on the results.
Everyone needs to try harder and harder and put in the best efforts but just keep it in mind never to focus on the ends. Aim for the highest and ultimate but never zero in onto the final conclusions.
That way we will never get disappointed and will put in the best efforts.
There are whys and wherefores for the above. The reasons for not getting our desired results may be multi dimensional. Someone who is undergoing a troublesome divorce case may be very sad but who knows that it may be happening so that they may get the love of their dreams later on in life. If they were still married then that opportunity would not have appeared. So to have the equanimity of mind is very essential and let the results never shake you from your path. Carry on in life with the attitude of most of us Indians have of "Chalta Hai"!
Be blissful in life always!
