Unconditional Love

Just a few days back I answered one of my students about the meaning of love and how it disappears after the two get married.
Let me elaborate here on that.
Tom Cruise and Katy have a 3 year contract which they renewed this month for the next 3 years.Everyone was aghast at the terms mentioned in that.
When two people fall in love they think that they can further stay in love 'till death does us part' and so they get married. Now let me tell you that marriage is a binding contract which can be terminated only by the legal recourse and not otherwise. Doesn't it clearly state that marriage is a legal and purely material way of looking at staying together!
When material demands come up and legal issues crop up does it look like love to your eyes?? For me it seems like a contractual obligation and nonetheless binding on either parties by law.
So where has true love gone? It has got embroiled into a legal rigmarole.
So now I shall take you through the spiritual point of view.
Ramananda was being questioned by Krishna Chaitanya about the highest kinds of love and here were his answers.
Ramananda first cited Dnyan,Bhakti and later love as the highest form of reaching God. Dnyan is knowing God,Bhakti is loving God.But both do not allow us to be ONE with God. So he expostulated that to love God there are various ways.
First he said that the highest kind of love is brotherhood(Balrama and SriKrsna),
Then he said it was childs or parents love(Yashoda,Deviki, and Krsna)
Then he said it was servants(Sridama and Sudama), Friends(Arjuna) and so on.
Finally he came to conjugal love which Rukmini and 16107 other wives of Krsna had for Him.
Still Krishna Chaitanya was disatisfied with it so he asked Ramnanda to further expostulate.
Ramananda then said that the love shared by Radha with Krsna is of the highest kind. She was married and was still in love with Krsna to the ultimate level.
This love does not make demands on the other person.
They both knew that either of them cannot be owned by the other.
They could be free and still love each other without getting entangled in anything which made demands on each other. She could share Krsna with all his wives, devotees, relatives and everyone who loved Him.
This is the ultimate kind of love which Krishna Chaitanya agreed to Ramananda.
Now I hope you understand that the ultimate love is full of devotion and makes absolutely NO demands on the other. It is UNCONDITIONAL LOVE!
