The Journey-Part 3

Now in this chapter I will tell you all about the problems we experience on this journey. First is the rejection of your good intentions by other people in your life. They will come up with all possible reasons so that you should not go on this path. The objections from family members, husbands, wife, children, parents, relatives etc. They do have your good intentions at heart and are telling you that because they have past experiences of watching their other near and dear ones go on this path before and how they suffered. They have limited knowledge and tell you from what they aver by seeing the world through their colored glasses. They have no real knowledge but just false knowledge. Ask a true yogi or a true ascetic and he will tell you the truth. So please get to know the truth before making judgments. They are as usual poking their noses in everything around you, which they have otherwise also done in life. It's called control! Next is the ones who have run away from this journey t...

The Journey-Part 2

Now I shall take you through the requirements of the journey. Just the way you need a passport, visa and other documents, medical certificates, bank accounts, clearances, etc etc..... Here the most important requirements are a good body, good mind and a will to go on that journey. Let me assure you that the real reason for having a good body are multifold. In a disembodied being or an unmanifest state you cannot take up any journeys so it is mandatory that you should have a body which is fit for taking this arderous journey. If the body is having any afflictions we will not get clearences for the journey since we will be more attached to getting better. So a healthy body is a must. How to have a healthy body is the question I am going to address here. First of all let us get rid of all the impurities it is lolling in. Laziness, lethargy, inertia, uncleanliness, dirt and fat. Getting up early in the morning, doing the ablutions after getting up, snanam, pooja or any other ritual that you ...

The Journey-Part 1.

I will explain the journey we take in our lives towards the ultimate goal. Let us start with the destination that every embodied being has to somehow reach. This elusive goal or destination is called Self, Enlightenment, Realization, Brahman, Jehovah, God, Allah, Ahura Mazda or That! We have to begin somewhere in some human life. Now that we have one can we just consider to begin the journey now? So we begin from here to get there. Now I shall describe the types of people who are around us in this journey. There are those who will not go on the journey like those who know about the destination but are not keen on taking on the journey, those who have never heard of such a place, those who know but are too busy with their mundane lives to notice anything, those who are absolutely not tuned into the mundane also, those who live the life of an animal-eating,drinking,sleeping and sex, those who think that material realm is their destination, the devilish who know the nether world is for them, ...

Tera Kya hoga Singapore?

Strange going ons in Singapore-that which are out of the extraordinary. I saw the traffic so ruly and perfect that I wondered if there could ever be accidents on the streets of Singapore. This myth got shattered on the second day itself when the Mercedes Taxicab carrying Rajashree and her mom and a guest met with a massive accident. Though the occupants got saved, the taxi was a complete write off. Mustafa is a great shopping centre and is open 24/7 and never closes for customers. This myth got shattered when I visited with Deepika and her family. They refused us entry since the mall was overly crowded and there was no space to enter so all new entrants were told to buzz off! The shopping experience is the greatest in Singapore with the prices of goods being far cheaper than any other parts of the world. I was in for a shock when I visited the Levi's showroom. 517 was priced way above S$140 which would translate into about 40% more pricier than in India. India is a manufacturing ba...

The Master Chef

My friends were watching the chef roll the dough and finally start chopping it into very fine slices and then he tossed them around to show off the separated noodles. They all felt the thrill of watching this master in action. We appreciate the mundane things that happen round us not realizing that this is exactly what that chef has been doing for the last 25 to 30 years of his life. That is his job or duty to perform the same menial task in front of an audience. For him it just pays his salary! Don't we do the same in our jobs with precision just like that cool chef? We too perform our menial tasks with precision and same interest but never get a clap! But we do get paid just like him. Then why do we have to clap for that person or appreciate the job that he is doing? The claps or commendations spurs us to excel in the mundane tasks also. To become a master and then to teach the same to the students so that they can emulate us better. They should far excel us and go beyond the limi...

Unconditional Love

Just a few days back I answered one of my students about the meaning of love and how it disappears after the two get married. Let me elaborate here on that. Tom Cruise and Katy have a 3 year contract which they renewed this month for the next 3 years.Everyone was aghast at the terms mentioned in that. When two people fall in love they think that they can further stay in love 'till death does us part' and so they get married. Now let me tell you that marriage is a binding contract which can be terminated only by the legal recourse and not otherwise. Doesn't it clearly state that marriage is a legal and purely material way of looking at staying together! When material demands come up and legal issues crop up does it look like love to your eyes?? For me it seems like a contractual obligation and nonetheless binding on either parties by law. So where has true love gone? It has got embroiled into a legal rigmarole. So now I shall take you through the spiritual point of view. Ram...

Enough Time in hand to ruin our lives!!

I read an article by my friend Rajesh on time so I thought I will share my thoughts on it. The human being has so much time in hand that he can spend it for his 84 million lives and still achieve nothing. He will still be born again and again in different wombs and still not make any efforts towards cutting this cycle of rebirths. Some of my Christian friends and others do not believe in the theory of rebirths so I will just give a small idea about it. Everything gets recycled in this universe so why not our lives? The nature also does recycle so let us hypothetically accept that we are recycled in time and lives! The Hindu philosophy believes in 84 million lives and we rise or go down in the order of evolution of species according to our past karmas and tendencies! The greatest trauma is experienced by the child when it is born. Think how would you like to be suspended in such a small space and kept upside down dunked in a slimy liquid for 9 months??That is what the human baby has to ...
