The Journey-Part 2

Now I shall take you through the requirements of the journey.
Just the way you need a passport, visa and other documents, medical certificates, bank accounts, clearances, etc etc.....
Here the most important requirements are a good body, good mind and a will to go on that journey.
Let me assure you that the real reason for having a good body are multifold.
In a disembodied being or an unmanifest state you cannot take up any journeys so it is mandatory that you should have a body which is fit for taking this arderous journey.
If the body is having any afflictions we will not get clearences for the journey since we will be more attached to getting better. So a healthy body is a must.
How to have a healthy body is the question I am going to address here.
First of all let us get rid of all the impurities it is lolling in.
Laziness, lethargy, inertia, uncleanliness, dirt and fat.
Getting up early in the morning, doing the ablutions after getting up, snanam, pooja or any other ritual that you do should be first accomplished.
If you do some sort of meditations, japas, reading of scriptures or bhajans or even morning excercises would help you in having a great body.
It is necessary to maintain good health and if you are habituated of going to a gym then please go on a very regular basis. Get a trainer since we may falter in doing the regulated excercises.Even getting lazy a little we may not end up doing the regular number of rounds on the bench, etc!
Next if you are used to some yogic postures then it would help in having a great shape too.
Eating healthy food is a must. satvik food helps us in maintaining the body at proper levels. The tamasic or rajasic foods like extremely oily, pungent, dead food, fatty, stale, stored, refrigerated foods are harmful to our body.
Fresh vegetables, fruits, milk products, milk, pulses, grains, etc are very good for the journey. They do not disturb the state of equilibrium of the body.
So eat very healthy, fresh food and avoid all the rajasic and tamasic foods.
To charge up the pranas we should do some sort of pranic breathing excercises.
You can learn from a trained Guru and practice it as often as you can.
Things that we need to avoid are intoxicants and those foods which put us in a false sense of security like drugs, drinks, tonics, muscle builder artificial foods, etc.
I am sure you get the gist of what I am telling you to do.
Keep a very healthy body and do all that you can to keep it healthy and fit.
Now we come to healthy mind and how to maintain it.
First of all can we empty the mind of all the dirt and unwanted crap that we have accumulated over the years and go with an absolute clean mind.
We tend to collect a lot of cobwebs and dust and dirt along the way so let us dust it and vacuum clean it before we begin the journey.
Let us drop the ego or the idea that-I KNOW and begin by just enjoying the journey.
If you come with a lot of mental baggage it will be very dangerous for your own progress and those of others too.
Empty your mind at the outset and carry a clean slate to write on by your guide.
So when we begin with a clean slate there will not be a rewrite on anything otherwise the smudge will not allow for progress.
Next is the will to go on this journey.
Are you willing to give the reins of your life to someone else so that he can shape the future aspect of your journey?
Remember when you meet with your Guru, you get a new life and thats why you are called TWICE BORN.
Your Guru is your new father who has given birth to you.
He writes on your slate and moulds you the way you should be so that you reach the goal or the destination ultimately.
He makes you the Guruputra and helps you unravel the mysteries of this spiritual journey.
So give up your personal will to Him and let Him decide what is right for you.
I hope you will proceed along the path with the Lords blessing now.
