Somewhere Over The Rainbow....

She left three years ago to do her Graduation in Economics, from the University of Durham.
Aparajita, will be graduating this July and we, very much want to be there for her. We want to be a part of her future when she receives the degree.
We can tell you with so much of pride, how these years have gone by.
We told her that she should always aim high and she took it to heart.
The Market Square in Durham
She wanted to make both of us proud so she attempted her IELTS and other subjects which would lead her to admission in the prestigious Durham University, in the United Kingdom.
The day she was leaving for Newcastle, we were very afraid. Our little daughter had never traveled anywhere alone in this world.
She flew British Airways from Bangalore to Newcastle on Tyne.
We were tracing her flight in our computer every moment of time.
Our little girl was all alone flying to some foreign land where there wasn't anyone to show her around or receive her.
We had never left her alone in her life and here, she was flying so far away from us.

Few months later, we sold our house so that we could pay for her first year of education.
We paid all her fees at a single shot. We felt very happy that she was able to start her education in the best possible institution in the world. She is a very intelligent student and we felt mighty pleased.
Her results were very good right in the first year.

Then the second year came and we had to again arrange for her fees.
It was a very arduous task for us. We asked every possible person we knew and we were able to fund her second year from those loans. These were soft loans that we got from our dear friends.
The toughest part was to see that none of our relatives were of any help to us, but, our friends were the gems whom we could turn to and they went out of the way to help us.
Again she fared very well in her second year.

Now was the time for her crucial year. The third year started with her, taking part in so many activities that we were exhausted just listening to her babble over Skype.
The Secretary General of the Durham MUN
She was part of the students welcoming committee for the new students joining that year.
She was in the Students Action Committee, the Model United Nation(MUN) officer in her second year.
She was elected to the high posts of two of the prestigious universities of the United Kingdom last year. She Chaired the Cambridge University International MUN and later she became the Sec. Gen. of Durham University MUN and we believe she conducted the best possible MUN in the history of her university.
But the biggest crowning moment in time was when her fees were to be paid.
We had absolutely no money with us to fund her balance education so we turned towards crowd funding.
Due to her campaign which appeared in the front pages of Bangalore Mirror, we could gather a very small portion of the funds. Then the funds dried up. No one wanted to donate for some girls education in some place far away.

Her Crowd Funding Campaign in Newspaper
Suddenly the universe showed signs of life. A good Samaritan from out of nowhere suddenly stood and funded her entire years fees. No one knows where he came from.
Our immediate needs were satiated but now the latest issue for us to go for her graduation looms large in front of us. How are we to fund this entire trip, we wondered and suddenly we saw a gleam of hope.
British Airways has organized this wonderful contest-"Go Further To Get Closer"- in association with the blogging partner Indiblogger.in and we wish the Gods would shower us with this gift. This is our chance to see our daughter for her graduation in Durham.
