Success & Failure

Yesterday one of my disciples came and asked me to say some words for her future. She was celebrating her 20th birthday.
Though I speak on spiritual I told her that I will talk about her career and other such opportunities.
I asked her what she would like to do after she completes her studies and the answer was-I don't know!
I told her that it is useless playing football without the goal posts and opponents, so she better have a goal in life. The next was whom would she like to emulate in material worldly success and the immediate answer was Mark Zukerberg, Bill Gates, Mittal and the like! They are highly successful people in this world. Then I asked her whom she would not like to emulate or whom does she consider the most unsuccessful person in life? That was difficult to say. I prodded her!
Unable to pin point anyone, I told her the people I would not like to emulate or copy are my parents!
That shocked her completely and immediately the heckles stood up.
But frankly look at your own parents and you too will agree that they are the biggest failures in the world.
Imagine your own father and mother would have had the highest aspirations and goals when they were your age, isn't it? Then ask yourself the question- have they reached it? The answer is resounding-NO!
Of course when I repeated the same conversation to her mother and another disciple they both being women, immediately started arguing with me. They said that they take care of their kids well, they have nurtured them, fed them, educated them and so on!
I asked them, isn't it your duty to do so?
"Yes, of course it is our duty , but haven't we sacrificed so much of our life and worked our ass off so that we can give our kids the world?"
I told them God look at them and laughs His head off at their ignorance!
He has written their destiny and if it is written that they have to go to Harward, then He makes it  happen through you or some other person! You are just used as a pipeline to water their life!
So why do you get in your big fat ego to say that you are doing it?
Isn't it your ego which tells you that I am responsible for their growth and so on!
If the kid has to become a great person and you were to die after giving birth, won't He make it happen via some other channel? So stop thinking of it as if I am the doer!
Who do you think you are to take care of the child? God says He is my child and I will use whatever means to reach the destination and goals that I have set for him! I will even use idiots and egoistic people like you to serve my purpose! Just know you are only the channel and do not think of yourself as the great sacrificial lamb and martyr!
I hope you get the gist of it!
The advice to her was just focus on her goals and not bother about the means since they have been set up for her by God alone.
And hey, Jesus never emulated His father, otherwise He would have become a carpenter. A Buddha would have become a king. Got it?
Just be your good self, bother about how to reach your own set goals and pray that God gives you the means to reach them!
